Alt-0160 provides a non-breaking space, useful for making a multi-part first name look like one string in a database or keeping a space from breaking across lines. See more on spaces and half spaces at the bottom of this page. .
Alt-0173 provides a non-breaking hyphen for when you want a hyphenated word to stick together and not break across lines.
